Synopsis
Aurora, a little girl, struggles and becomes afraid while ice skating. She tears up, disappointed in herself.
Meanwhile, in the far distance is an ice-skating panda named Oreo. Oreo approaches and catches Aurora moments before she stumbles on the ice. Oreo portrays the elegance and joy of ice skating. Inspired, Aurora runs in the direction of Oreo, forgetting her fear of falling on the ice!

In A Pair of Fuzzy Skates, I used an alternative 2D animation software called TV Paint. This project was a meaningful milestone, as I was experimental with both my animation approach and texture style.
Because ice skating is a form of performance, my loose, classical, and watercolor aesthetics complement my concept. I used traditional methods to sketch my key poses, then digitized and developed them into the final animation. I was able to overcome my rigidity and develop a much more flowing, expressive animation.
I concentrated on the circular shape of my panda character design, which allowed for its movement. I painted the northern lights with subtle watercolor textures, illuminating the winter night. There is a faint glow and fog emanating from the ice lake to show the chilly wave of ice.
